Thigh Lift

Thigh Lift

A thigh lift or thighplasty is a plastic surgery procedure, during which your plastic surgeon removes excess fat and sagging skin from your thighs in order to reshape and tighten them. An inner thigh lift is called a medial thigh lift, while an outer thigh lift is referred to as a lateral thigh lift.

Dr. Perrotta and Dr. Luppens have extensive experience with thigh lifts, giving patients a more attractive, youthful appearance on the upper legs.

What to Expect at your Consultation

Drs. Perrotta and Luppens will devote as much time as necessary to discuss your individual goals and needs with you.

Once your surgeon determines his surgical plan, our aesthetic coordinator will produce a written quote, which lists all costs of your proposed surgery so that there are no surprises. At that time, an appointment is set for your pre-op visit.

Pre-Op Visit

Much is covered during your pre-op visit. First, one of our highly trained medical assistants will take pre-op photos. Next, your surgeon will explain the surgical technique to you and thoroughly inform you as to what you can expect, including any potential complications. Note that all procedures involve some risk, but major complications are rare. Dr. Perrotta or Dr. Luppens will then obtain a more complete medical history from you and perform a final pre-op physical examination, including a check of your vital functions to ensure that you are physically fit for surgery. All informed consents for surgery will be filled out at this appointment and final payments are due at this time. You will be notified 24 hours prior to your surgery with your arrival time.

The Thigh Lift Procedure

Most thigh lifting procedures require general anesthesia or heavy IV sedation. In selected patients, epidural anesthesia suffices. Your surgeon will hide your incisions inside the groin area, inside your bikini line. For some patients, however, vertical incisions are necessary. Your surgeon then removes the excess skin on the thighs, and if necessary, will also perform liposuction. Thereafter, our staff applies dressings and your post-op garment.

Post-Op Recovery

In most cases, you can go home the same day. If you are a more mature patient, however, your surgeon may have you stay overnight in the hospital. You should be able to return to work within 2-3 weeks, but you must keep your knees together for about six weeks. After your procedure, you will follow-up with us several times so that we can monitor your healing.

FAQ’s

People with excess skin or severe wrinkles and those with excess thigh fat often seek cosmetic or medical procedures to address these concerns.

Results vary from person to person, but initial results are typically visible once the swelling subsides, usually within a few weeks to a few months after surgery.

Although the results are long-lasting, they can be affected by aging, lifestyle choices, and weight fluctuations.

Before the procedure, follow any pre-operative instructions provided by your surgeon, which may include dietary restrictions and cessation of certain medications. After the procedure, follow all post-operative instructions provided by your surgeon, which may include wearing compression garments, avoiding strenuous activities, and attending follow-up appointments.

A thigh lift can result in bruising, swelling, discomfort, and temporary numbness. Before the procedure, your surgeon will discuss potential risks and complications with you, which typically involves some downtime.

Excess fat and skin are removed during a thigh lift to tighten and improve the thigh contour. The surgeon discusses the patient’s needs, examines the area, and recommends the procedure. Recovery time varies, but most can return to work in 2-3 weeks and avoid strenuous activities for six weeks. Follow-up appointments monitor healing progress.
