Brow Lift

Brow Lift

An eyebrow lift is a surgical procedure that provides you with a more youthful look in the upper portion of the face with fewer lines and wrinkles and less drooping skin (eyebrow ptosis) above the eyes. Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens, and Dr. Kerestes have performed countless successful brow lifts on both men and women, and utilize advanced techniques that bring excellent results with minimal scarring and discomfort.

What to Expect at your Consultation

Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens, and Dr. Kerestes will devote as much time as necessary to discuss your individual goals and needs with you. After a focused physical examination, your surgeon will provide preliminary recommendations and explain what you can expect from surgery.

Once your surgeon determines his surgical plan, our aesthetic coordinator will produce a written quote, which lists all costs of your proposed surgery so that there are no surprises. At that time, an appointment is set for your pre-op visit.

Pre-Op Visit

Much is covered during your pre-op visit. First, one of our highly trained medical assistants will take pre-op photos. Next, your surgeon will explain the surgical technique to you and thoroughly inform you as to what you can expect, including any potential complications. Note that all procedures involve some risk, but major complications are rare. Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens or Dr. Kerestes will then obtain a more complete medical history from you and perform a final pre-op physical examination, including a check of your vital functions to ensure that you are physically fit for surgery. All informed consents for surgery will be filled out at this appointment and final payments are due at this time.  You will be notified 24 hours prior to your surgery with your arrival time.

The Brow Lift Surgery

Most patients require only local anesthesia and IV sedation, but some request general anesthesia. Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens, and Dr. Kerestes place the incisions behind, at, or below the hairline, depending on the specific goals of your surgery and the location of your hairline prior to the procedure.

There are different types of brow lifts, but essentially, Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens, and Dr. Kerestes will surgically release the entire eyebrow or only its outer half from the underlying bony structures, which will enable the eyebrow or its outer half to migrate upward.  They will then secure the forehead and eyebrow to their new locations with sutures.  Lastly, the incisions are closed and covered with soft, comfortable dressings.

Post-Op Recovery

You can go home the same day with your head wrapped in dressings, which are usually removed several days after surgery during your post-operative visit. In most cases, drains are not necessary. Any initial discomfort is controlled with oral pain medication. Sutures at or in front of the hairline are removed in 3-6 days. Sutures or staples behind the hairline are removed in approximately 1-3 weeks. Most swelling and bruising is gone in 7-10 days. After your procedure, you will follow up with us several times so that we can monitor your healing.

FAQ’s

Candidates for a brow lift include those with sagging eyebrows, those who appear fatigued due to droopy eyebrows, and anyone with significant forehead wrinkling seeking a more youthful appearance.

The initial effects of a brow lift are visible immediately after surgery, but the final results will be more apparent once swelling and bruising subside, usually within 7-10 days.

A brow lift generally produces long-lasting results. While the procedure does not stop aging, most patients enjoy the benefits for several years.

Before surgery, patients should follow specific preoperative instructions provided by their surgeon, including medication adjustments and preparation for recovery. After the procedure, it’s essential to follow all postoperative care instructions, such as caring for incisions, wearing headdresses, and managing activity levels to ensure optimal healing.

Patients can return home the same day but require several days of rest with headdressings. Most resume normal activities within a week or two. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort may occur but can be managed with prescribed pain medication.

During the consultation, Drs. Perrotta and Luppens will discuss your aesthetic goals and the appropriate surgical options. The procedure often requires only local anesthesia with IV sedation and involves making incisions along the hairline to adjust and secure the position of the eyebrows. Recovery includes close monitoring in follow-up visits to ensure proper healing.
