Top Salisbury plastic surgeons Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens and Dr. Kerestes have a great deal of experience performing successful arm lift procedures. Note that if you desire to thin your entire body, you should undergo a weight loss and exercise program prior to any surgery.

What to Expect at your Consultation
Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens and Dr. Kerestes will devote as much time as necessary to discuss your individual goals and needs with you. After a focused physical examination, your surgeon will provide preliminary recommendations and explain what you can expect from surgery.
Once your surgeon determines his surgical plan, our aesthetic coordinator will produce a written quote, which lists all costs of your proposed surgery so that there are no surprises. At that time, an appointment is set for your pre-op visit.
Pre-Op Visit
Much is covered during your pre-op visit. First, one of our highly trained medical assistants will take pre-op photos. Next, your surgeon will explain the surgical technique to you and thoroughly inform you as to what you can expect, including any potential complications. Note that all procedures involve some risk, but major complications are rare. Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens, and Dr. Kerestes will then obtain a more complete medical history from you and perform a final pre-op physical examination, including a check of your vital functions to ensure that you are physically fit for surgery. All informed consents for surgery will be filled out at this appointment and final payments are due at this time. You will be notified 24 hours prior to your surgery with your arrival time.
The Brachioplasty Procedure
Dr. Perrotta, Dr. Luppens and Dr. Kerestes perform brachioplasty on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia. They will place the incisions on the inside surfaces of the arms so that any scars will be hidden as much as possible. Excess skin is then removed. If excess fat is also to be removed, liposuction is performed on the arms at the same time. Drains are not necessary after an arm lift. Our staff then dresses your incisions and places an elastic garment on your arms.
Post-Op Recovery
You can go home the same day wearing the dressings and the elastic garment. Any initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral pain medication. Swelling and bruising subsides within 2-3 weeks, and you should be able to return to work and other activities within two weeks after your surgery. Sutures either dissolve on their own or may need to be removed in 3-5 days during a post-operative visit. After your procedure, you will follow up with us several times so that we can monitor your healing.
FAQ’s
Who is a good candidate?
A arm lift removes excess skin from the arms due to weight loss, aging, or previous surgeries. It can also help people with fat deposits on their arms.
When will I see the results?
The excess skin and fat are removed shortly after the surgery, and the initial results are visible. However, it will take a few weeks for the swelling to subside and for the final results to appear.
How long do the results last?
The results of a brachioplasty are generally long-lasting, provided you maintain a stable weight and follow a healthy lifestyle. Aging will naturally continue, which might affect the skin’s elasticity over time, but the improvements from the surgery should be permanent.
What should I do before and after?
Pre-surgery, you may need to take some lab tests, adjust your medication, and stop smoking. After the surgery, following your surgeon’s instructions is essential. It includes taking prescribed medicines, caring for the surgical site, and wearing compression garments to reduce swelling.
Is there any downtime or side effects?
After an arm lift, patients can experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Risks such as infection and healing issues are rare but can occur. The surgeon will discuss ways to minimize these risks during the pre-op visit.
What can I expect?
Incisions are made inside the arms to remove excess skin and fat. No drains are usually required, and an elastic garment is worn after surgery. You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions for a smooth recovery.
