Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
Benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy include
- Vagina: Reduces vaginal dryness, pain, itching, and discomfort. It is possible to improve vaginal atrophy with HRT (thinning of lining).
- Sleep: Reduce anxiety, night sweats, and insomnia to improve sleep.
- Sex: Enhance libido and make sex more enjoyable.
- Bladder: Strengthens the bladder muscles, which can reduce the frequency of urinary tract infections and the risk of incontinence and other bladder problems.
- Weight Loss: Counterweight gain and assistance in weight loss.
- Hot Flashes (Vasomotor): Reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes and sweats, which decreases the quality of life for many menopausal women. Hot flashes can be significantly reduced with HRT.
- Mood: Reduce depression by curtailing mood swings and their severity.
- Brain: Focus and concentration are improved, and research indicates that estrogen treatment may reduce the long-term risk of Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
- Anti-Aging & Skin: It helps reduce wrinkles and sagging skin caused by aging by increasing skin collagen content, thickness, elasticity, and moisture levels.
- Heart Disease: Protection against heart disease. The most recent studies using micronized progesterone instead of medroxyprogesterone, which was previously used, suggest additional protection against heart problems.
- Muscles: Maintain and enhance muscle mass and strength. Decrease muscle aches and pains.
- Migraines: Diminish migraine symptoms.
- Bone: Prevent bone loss that is accelerated at menopause. Fewer women have bone fractures due to weaker bones with hormone replacement therapy because of reduced osteoporosis. The evidence of estrogen treatment to prevent bone loss is excellent.
- Wellness: Improve long-term disease prevention. BHRT promotes a better quality of life
Candidates
Perimenopausal and post menopausal women
Men over 50 that don’t want any additional children
A consultation is required for all BHRT patients. The patient will meet with a provider to determine if they are a good candidate for BHRT. If so, initial lab work will be ordered. Once the provider reviews the lab work, a care plan will be created, and an initiation appointment will be scheduled. The care plan will be reviewed with the patient, and medication(s) will be prescribed and mailed to the patient’s home. Monthly follow-up appointments will occur for three months, then every three months for six months, and then every six months.
BHRT is membership-based and costs $150 per month for the first year. Labs and medication are an additional fee.
