
WHO MIGHT BENEFIT?:
Women and men with sun spots on the face.
Women and men with pigmented skin tags on the face and neck.
African Americans with black skin tags on the face.
Women and men with spider veins on the face and nose.
TREATMENT GOALS:
Removal of or improvement in spots, pigmented skin tags and/or spider veins.Skin with more youthful color and uniform pigmentation.
THE PROCEDURE:
No anesthesia is required, topical anesthetic cream is an option. The doctor "paints" the spot (s), skin tags or spider veins with the laser beam. This destroys the top layers of skin that contain the spot.POST-OP RECOVERY:
Following a treatment, expect redness of the surrounding skin for 3-4 hours.If your face is treated extensively, you might develop temporary swelling, which usually resolves in one week.
You may develop red-purple dots, blisters, or small wounds all of which clear within two to three weeks.
Individuals with dark skin use a skin bleacher for six weeks following the laser treatment.
OTHER POSSIBILITIES:
Carbon Dioxide Laser Resurfacing and Dermabrasion are alternatives, and they are are actually preferable if you also have diffuse pigment irregularity, wrinkling, and/or acne scarring.Chemical peeling is a less accurate alternative.
NOTE:
The suitability of laser treatment of sun spots is determined during the office consultation. All laser procedures have risks. Minor complications occur occasionally. Major complications are quite unusual.
